In the physical world everything changes. When the earth shakes there are changes. Exploring changes within the painting with the use of different mediums, time allowed for curing and the simple method of manipulation of the paint spill/pour. Experimenting with the tilt of the canvas the consistency of the medium used and the vessel it is poured from provides a unique and mesmerizing finish. This artwork has changed with time and will continue to cure and create yet another wrinkle or stream of thought.
Different mediums react to the throw, the paint moves like the stretching of an arm in a specified direction looking to touch or grasp something real. I believe in pairing mediums that might seem oppositional and resistant so that they collaborate and create something none of them would be capable on its own. This work evolved with time; the cure.
The paint is allowed to express its character with the action of tilting the canvas with various wet mediumsand using various vessels to explore the movement within. The embodiment of warmth and passion when different mediums collide produces a feeling of action within unity.
Leftovers is an ever changing canvas. An interactive canvas that incorporates time. The destruction of the dried oil paint/ scrapings from the used artist pallets takes a different form each time more is added, allowing the narrative to be revealed. The work rearranges past, present and future. The paint chips are free from adhesive andare placed or thrown on the canvas; to suit the viewers eye.
During flow we experience deep enjoyment, creativity, and a total involvement with life. This piece demonstrates the involvement one can have with paint. Allowing the paint to flow from different angles creates asensation of enjoyment in life using color and texture. Redefining the idea that paint is to be used with a brush. Manipulation of different mediums through measured time and space.
Choices; 2014, Oil on Canvas 48x60
We are the master of our own choices in life. The important thing is to make your daily choices based upon what you see, hear, and feel, and to take responsibility for your choices. I wanted this reflected in this painting. The round orbs reference the different choices we have. The light from the sun and from the sacred one is empowering and offering strength. The cardinal represents being in the present at this moment in time.
Natural Selection; 2014, Oil on Canvas, 30 x 40
By instinct only may we continue to evolve. The lack of mouth actually creates a stronger mind and stronger intuition. We have ceased to asses life through out minds eye because we have the need to talk all of the time instead of simply being aware of our surroundings.
The Right Path; 2015 Oil on Canvas 48 x 24
So many paths to take in our lives, which is the right one we all at some time in our lives are faced with a decision. The black crow symbolizes ancient wisdom and a guardian in this case. Protecting and helping with that first step forward to the right path.
Eurphoria; 1996 Oil on Canvas, 26 x 50
Having lived in Madrid for 2 and half years, I had the wonderful opportunity to experience flamenco dancing in Madrid, Seville and Granada. This dance represents energy, emotion and a strong family bond. This painting was done with immense strength and energy. The painting was done swiftly due to the emotion I felt when being connected with these dancers I had experienced so many times.
Protective and embracing the connection of the all beings.
Being in a very strong place mentally keeps you from indulging in others judgments. (snake). Being whole, strong, aware and untouchable brings color and balance to the self.
All doors remain open while you stay in the present. The authentic self just needs to make that choice.
Creating movement and colors that blend and detract from each other. Just as in the soul there is movement that agrees and doesn't agree with daily living.
Morning Run Greenfield; 2013 Oil on Canvas 39 x 63
I have been running around greenfield lake for 7 years. Its a beautiful place. For me it has been a place for contemplative thinking. The view changes constantly in every second you are there. The Heron are like ghosts in the early morning.
